Education, Community and More
Plant City focuses on educating its customers on the positive impact of eating a plant-based diet - for the environment, for personal health and for animal welfare and justice.
The food hall offers classes throughout the month that are open to the public, including:
• Jumpstart Your Health, a four-week course taught by physicians, a nutritionist and a cooking instructor about the health benefits of a plant-based diet.
• Cooking classes for adults and families.
• Speaker series featuring prominent names in the plant-based eating movement.
• Meditation, Reiki and yoga classes.
• Plant City also works to compost 100 percent of its food waste and offers compostable takeout containers.
Marketplace
The marketplace offers all plant-based foods from chips and cookies to frozen meat alternatives and ice cream.
“You don’t have to check any labels when you shop,” Anderson said.
How to Be Plant-Based Friendly
As demand for plant-based options grows, so does the demand for restaurants to offer them on their menus.
Restaurants can offer plant-based items using ingredients already in their kitchens like grilled vegetables, rice, wraps and pasta.
“There’s a lot of us out there, and you’re missing a big market by not offering plant-based items,” Anderson said. For more information, visit their Facebook page; Plant City Providence.
