WATCH OUT PUMPKIN
 HERE COMES MAPLE
While everyone enjoys pumpkin flavor synonymous with fall, there’s a new (but old) tastemaker on the rise sweetening all different categories: maple. In 2017 the top ten maple product categories grew over $57 million in sales.1
It’s a Popular Sugar Substitute
With its lower glycemic index and simpler ingredients, consumers are using maple syrup as a substitute to table sugar. Compared to regular sugar, maple syrup has:
• Fewer calories
• Higher Calcium, Iron and Potassium
• Manganese—a mineral that produces energy and aids antioxidant defenses
• Riboflavin (Vitamin B2)—a vitamin that helps break down proteins, fats and carbohydrates2
It’s Versatile
Maple flavor can be added to all kinds
of products ranging from beverages
to meats. This warm, nostalgic flavor plays nice with sweet, salty and sour flavor profiles. These are some of the top categories where maple is taking over.3
