 MEDICINAL POWERS
OF THE MUSHROOM
Medicinal mushrooms have been used in Chinese medicine for hundreds of years to help cure illnesses and prolong life.
Medicinal mushrooms are gaining popularity as additives in everything from coffee to vegan burgers. Your customers can enjoy their savory, earthy taste and meaty texture in stir fries, soups, pasta dishes and more.
Recently, powdered mushrooms have been trending. They enhance flavors and offer great health benefits, like reducing cholesterol and boosting immunity.
Try adding mushrooms or mushroom powder in these unusual and delicious ways:
• Coffee: Coffee is a great way to get a daily dose of mushroom power. Lion’s Mane will help enhance cognitive abilities and Chaga mushrooms will help boost immunity – perfect for the early morning pre-work rush.
• Jerky: Mushroom jerky is a healthy and delicious snack that improves functional health. Portabella mushrooms are packed with B-Vitamins, potassium, selenium and fiber.
• Burgers: Create veggie burgers that are not only filled with potassium-rich button mushrooms, but also include vitamin-dense sunflower seeds. Mix button mushrooms with oats, sunflower seeds, onion, breadcrumbs and salt in a food processor and form into patties. Bake at 400 F until browned, about 25 minutes.
• Elixirs: Perfect for mixing into smoothies, soups, coffees or for drinking straight-up with hot water. Cordycep fungus elixirs make a great addition to morning shakes for their energy properties and Reishi elixirs mix well with an evening tea to promote healthy sleep patterns.
