Regenerative agriculture is a step above organic. This practice aims to add nutrients back into the soil and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Regenerative agriculture includes no-till farming, ethical treatment of animals and focusing on fair-trade initiatives.
Although it’s not an official certification yet, the Regenerative Organic Certification program is being tested by farmers, producers and manufacturers to see how the standards can be implemented.
To become Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC), organizations must first be USDA Organic Certified. The process from non-organic to ROC can take up to four years, but if an organization is already USDA Organic Certified, the process can take as little as a year.
If you do business with farmers who practice regenerative agriculture, make sure you promote them on your website, social media and within your store.
